A pig for the King
The small town of Elizondo has been catapulted to worldwide fame for being the center where the plot of a trilogy read by more than two million people, which has already been translated into more than fifteen languages and of which two movies have already been screened on Netflix with a success beyond any doubt.
But before all that, it is also a stately town with a long history and one of the most famous hot chocolates, perhaps, in Spain.
We may or may not start with a chocolate, but what you will see on this drive through mountain pastures in both the French and Spanish Basque Country is a combination of beautiful quiet and peaceful villages, winding roads up and down mountain passes, beautiful old medieval churches, grazing sheep, free-range basque native breed pigs, trout farms and lush forests of beech, oak and chestnut trees and maybe even the ruins of an old weapons factory?
